The Adventures of Odysseus
Next, there is a straight in the sea, between the man eating monster Skylla and Kharybdis, a boat sinking whirlpool. Odysseus makes it through, opting to have a few of his crew eaten, passing closer to the monster’s side.
The two sculptures are placed so the viewer passes between them. Skylla strikes like a snake, and Kharybdis spirals like a whirlpool.
